can you keep lychnis (gardeners world} on 1st floor balcony.

just bought my 1st lychnis today {13 06 09} and dont no anything about them .balcony is s.e faceing and gets the sun from early morning till 6.30ish p.m any help would be appreciated. j.p

It will need frequent watering too, I have them in my garden and they are very thirsty..........

if it is the grey leaf form it will tolerate some dryness. if its the tall scarlet maltese cross type it would be better in the soil. but they both like full sun.

If you mean the grey leaved one which produces those dark pink flowers, then it'll be fine on the balcony. all grey leaved plants love sun. Give it a decent sized pot and enjoy.
