tips on sowing grass seed

you dont say what you have already done up to now, but...
you need to turn over the land to be seeded, then you need to walk all over it and tread it down firmly, then give it a rake to achieve a fine tilth on the surface and then sow the seeds, water, and leave until it sprouts.
Do NOT attampt to cut it for at least 6 weeks with a mower, if you think you need to, use hand shears.
