Re locating a tree branch
United Kingdom
I have a young cherry tree and one of the branches has overgrown into my neighbors garden. I would like to splice it and re attach to the trunk. Is this possible

how thick is the branch. it really only works with thin 5-10mm thick branches. opening a suitable site on the main stem will leave the tree open to serious infection. so i would say no too.
sorry not the best welcome to GoY...
but welcome non the less.

Thanks for the advice I think it maybe best left alone. The branch in question is about 10mm thick and about 5 feet long.

definitely a no then. too big. it wont be able to support the water transfer. if it is a problem to the neighbours trim it back.

I think the short answer is no, though a grafting expert might be able to do it.
