I haven't, but I know someone who has. It's supposed to add trace elements and stuff to your soil - but my friend says he didn't notice any difference in the plants grown in soil amended with it. Probably depends on the state of the soil its added to as to how much difference it makes to plants.

I have heard presentations by the producers and seen the product. I all sounds good but I decided that I would not buy it. A neighbour swears by it, though.

I think that if you live in a country that has a lot of volcanic ash lying about, and you can persuade gardeners that they need it for their gardens, it,s a good way to get rid of it, after all the volcano produces it for nothing, so try making money out of it, Derek.

thanks for the comments. I'm going to give it go as the front border needs some revitalising ! My ground cover plants don't spread, bulbs don't naturalise, hibiscus gave up flowering and I only got a couple of roses - so I feel all the nutrients are missing ! hope its not all hype as Derek suggests, but time will tell and I will let you know (good or bad ! ) I'll just cling on to the fact that bulbaholics neighbour must have had some good results and hope I get the same

First thing I'd suggest is you add something humus rich, such as composted animal manure, soil conditioning compost, garden compost, leaf mould, anything like that you can get hold of. With or without the volcanic rock dust...

Gh, my neighbour is a skilled plantswoman and has always had good results - long before Rockdust was marketed. Derek, the dust is from Perthshire rocks ground down: ancient volcanoes now solidified. Gh, just try your own experiments with it and report back with your findings.
