After planting apply a good thick mulch as they can heave in frost, the roots will then grow into the mulch and no harm done. Because of this I wont split till the spring.

You will probably find the GCs will have a good selection as they provide autumn and winter colour therefore good sellers at this time of year too

Yes they do give great colour Scottish and really brighten the winter.

I don't think so..it is a good time for splitting heucheras and potting them up,or planting in the garden..so a well established one should no problem...just remember to water it well,so it doesn't dry out..good luck..
