My Solarum has started to wilt and the leaves go brown as though it is dying. Watching Gardener's World this evening, Monty Don talked of his tomatoes getting blight, it being the same family as the potato. Then I
realised that is probably what is wrong with my shrub as I think that is the same family. I have already cut back the affected branches. Is there more I should do to save the shrub

Thanks Drc I am quite sure after seeing Monty Don that is what it is, Just hope like you the cutting back works.

We can keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best Telme and may not really know the outcome till next year.

We had a question on this just this week and a couple of us have had the same problem?
We too wondered if it was Blight?
I have 2 and both have now succumbed one in the spring and one in the last week or so. The one in spring I cut out all the wilting and dead brown bits back to healthy growth and it has been fine since. I have done the same with the other one and already it looks better with no further signs of brown or wilting. All I can do now is wait and see.
These were both new plants last year. I have always grown one and never seen this before but we have had an unusually wet and cold summer.
