Hi carol47, I have moved plants all through the summer, if you puddle them with water first and continue to water them, I have found that if I Move them at the end of the summer the soil cools down before the roots have had a chance to get established, this is just my theory. I may just be lucky in the summer and unlucky in the autumn. At the moment the soil should still be warm and you have enough time for the roots to establish before the winter. good luck.

I always have better luck moving herbaceous plants during the summer. I make sure they are adequately watered.
