my 5year old beautiful cercis canadensis is dying.

United Kingdom

I have cut off all the dead branches, but the few with leaves are already shrivelling. It appears to have died from the top. How can I save it? I wonder if the very harsh winter (for Devon) has damaged it beyond hope.

It may be a fungus possibly, have one in bedford and its only young but it survivied the weeks under snow in in february! Take a sample to a garden centre perhaps?
