"Deadhead" sunflowers?

If you clip off spent sunflower blossoms, will they produce side shoots with more flowers? Should I just toss it out after blooming? This is a mini variety I am growing from seed in a large pot, but it doesn't say anything about production on the package.

Thank you S, It is early, and I can see something that appears to be another bud further down the stem, so maybe when this flower has died I'll clip back to near the second bud. See what happens! Thanks again. : )

if it is early enough in the season then it may produce a second flush of flowers. no harm in trying other than depriving the birds and your self of seeds.
