I wish they would write the common name on plant labels as well as the Latin name because I now have three Catmint plants.I thought this was something like lavender, but that’s okay it still looks nice .

As many of us know, common names can be different in different parts of the county let alone the country. some plants have upwards of 20 local names so the latin is universal.
I have started writing plant names in a notebook and when i go plant shopping i take it with me. then when i find something that might be interesting i check. Its taken me 20 yrs to get round to this but it is worth the effort.

Here's an idea for some enterprising soul on this site:Create a printable version ,notepad size of Latin and corresponding common names of plants...especially perrenials.I know i'd be the first one to buy it if it was on the market, because I'm Latin challenged.Lol

Great idea Rhodea - but you'd have to add to it local names from other countries for poor souls like me as well. Could turn into a huge notepad!

I think they should too.
This way it helps new gardeners to identify plants easier and would have possibly prevented you from buying three of the same thing !
