quick note to say nothing on the news but vids of Irene as she works her way north from Florida towards New York City. They could be in for a bad one.

Nothing of note here so far, most if not all of the bad weather is at least 100 miles east of us- Philadelphia side of the state. We are being promised UP TO 3 inches of water EAST of Harrisburg, starting this evening and into tomorrow, along with some winds, which have been described as BREEZY.

Being that we are west of Harrisburg, we might not see much of it at all, since we are beyond the predicted cone. Doesn’t mean we won’t get some wind and water. We sure can use some rain, but not a continous downpour for hours.

My tomatoes are about done for. I’m going to pull them out next week after this storm passes. Might put in some lettuce from seeds, right on the ground. If we have an early frost I will run out to cover them. usually after a frost we have weeks of growing weather for cooler crops.

Raised beds tend not to be affected by the frost but I get a tarp ready regardless. hate to lose home grown lettuce!

more tomorrow if all goes well and we have tricity! Everyone have a safe Sunday.

Glad to hear you are still missing the brunt of it Rusty, I cannot contemplate how folk manage to get over some of the devastation we see on the news, we grumble about our weather but I admit I much prefer it to what happens in some parts.
You take care....

Pleased to hear your safe and sound Rusty. Lets hope you miss the worst and that the rest of areas threatened aren't hit too badly.

Hi Rusty, hope you are ok my sister in law lives by the ocean outside Marshfield Mass and is used to getting cut off at high tides. But a couple of years ago in a hurricaine her basement was flooded and the garden and swimming pool suffered badly. She has not evacuated but has made better preparations this time. So fingers crossed you will all be OK.
