I'm putting the garden to bed!

Its my favourate time of year. The wedding season is over and I’m once again playing in the garden.
Got a bit carried away last week, started pruning the roses, before I knew it I had 3 car loads of trimmings (started baging it but got too many cuts and with the tip down the road just opened the boot and throw every thing in the back) Stephen got a but cross, every time he gets in the car a spiders web wraps its self round his head. We named it webster, but it hasnt stopped Stephen planing his revange. I’ve promised not to use the car as a skip again!

Its been a bit dissapointing really. Although all the new shrubs are doing well, alot of the bedding just didnt get going at all.

Today I cleared out the new boxes put under the trees. Could hardly get a fork into it for all the root growth but the trailing fuchsias and geraniams have hardly flowered. Determined to have them out so next year they can go back with a bigger starting size!

Starting to plan for next year!
Took my mother for a wander around a wonderful secret garden in Sandwich-Salutations!
I was realy taken by the tropical bed, lots of banana plants and dahlias, vivid orange and purple foilage plants. So next year the White Lady will be transplanted to the tropic’s. Already started by moving my yacker, I want to see the white flower spike amounst the cains lilly’s and the acanthus. Think I will copy the ‘Gardeners magasine’ and plant the lily’s in the biggest tub I can find along with a banana plant and the Colocasia I got for a £1! Wonder if tony will strech to a windmill palm, found a gem of a garden centre selling big ones for £25……….

You have been busy Sandy, somehow I think I can understand anybody being a bit miffed if their car was full of bits of rose prunings, I do mine in easy stages and let the council have them in my garden rubbish bin, luckily they do collect every 2wks...
A lot of my bedding plants were very late to flower but on the plus side I still have a lot that are still flowering so I`ll keep deadheading as long as possible.
Keep on with your planning ,I`ll look forward to next years pics.......

It's nice to hear you did so much. I use my car as a skip aswell, and it's the home of many spiders (and sometimes snails and woodlice lol )
