South west facing, medium sized garden sloping down over an old cliff-line above Christchurch Harbour. Thin sandy soil over plateau gravel at top, deeper at the bottom.Continuing renovation of overgrown garden started by previous houseowner. He also built 5 sheds including a garage workshop!
I am removing overcrowded trees as and when the replacements grow to maintain a baffle against the South Westerlies that blow straight into the garden. Small area of leveled lawn with beds and banks being planted up around it.
Salad patch in deeper soil near bottom.
Half size (5rods) allotment (with shed and 4 compost bins) arranged in 5 year rotation grid.
