i live on the southern edge of snowdonia national park, very very beautiful. i inherited a fair size sloping bramble covered back garden which i've been chipping away at for about 10yrs and last year it started to look like something. i'm trying to create a wildish retreat for me to lose myself in.last year i had a few blubells appear and the're british- hurrah! one of my all time faves, just love that smell.
as i don't have nearly enough money to fill it, i'm doing it slowly. last year i put a few annuals in, positioning them so could see them from my kitchen window. looked great from down here but a bit sparse up there, my theory being that if the weather was rubbish i could still enjoy my flowers from the house- payed off too!
i tried outdoor toms last year as no greenhouse,germination was fantastic but it was heartbreaking to see them looking so sad with so few fruits and those that set never got to ripen.i left the few on the plants for interest as too few to make chutney. let's hope for a summer this year!
i ovbiously don't know much about gardening (so glad to be with GOY) this winter saw off some of my faves : osteospurmum& fuschia being a couple, so yesterday i cheered myself up with a visit to my local garden centre and bought a couple of HARDY perrenials-a bright pink perriwinkle and shocking pink garden pink. treated myself to 4 from lidels too: 1 pink/1purple clematis, a forscythia and an amelanchier(totally new to me) i could have taken cuttings from freinds and neighbours but i can't wait till next year and at £1.50 each i can't lose. they'll be in pots this year till i work out where to put them.
just love flowers, especilly pink ones!
