Garden Centre > Plants > Roses > Shrub Roses
Position: full sun
Soil: prefers fertile, well drained soil, but will tolerate clay and light soils too.Rate of growth: fast-growing
Flowering period: June to September
Hardiness: fully hardy
Pruning: light pruning in autumn
Justifiably popular, 'Iceberg? goes on flowering right through thesummer. Clusters of pink buds open to double, slightly fragrant whiteflowers, 7cm across. It is disease-resistant and easy to grow. There isalso a climbing variety. Please note : All our roses have had a summer prune to tidy them up so they will not be in flower when you receive them.Garden Care: Plant deeply, in soil that has been improved with organic matter, such as well-rotted garden compost or manure, ensuring that the 'bud union? (the bulge just below the shoots), is 2.5 cm below the soil. Add a handful of balanced, slow-release fertiliser such as bonemeal to the planting hole. Deadhead regularly to promote flowering. Prune lightly from late winter to early spring, removing dead and diseased shoots and cutting to just above an outward-facing bud.All our roses are field grown. In October/November they are dug up and potted. However, they will not produce any new roots until spring, so don't be surprised if the compost falls away from the roots when winter planting. Some suppliers send out 'bare root' plants unpotted, but we don't as it is easier to manage them on the nursery in pots.
