Power comes from a high-specification 6.5hp Briggs & Stratton Intek? engine; an Industrial/Commercial-grade OHV-type unit that?s renowned for its smooth clean-running performance and low levels of fuel-consumption. Quality engine features include gear-driven lubrication for reduced wear and therefore a longer engine-life; and a Magnetron? Electronic Ignition for fast reliable starting at each time of asking. The Masport 6.5XL Petrol Chipper Shredder has twin hoppers; a cone-shaped one for bushy branches up to 5.5cm in diameter; and a wide-aperture one for softer debris like leaves and grass-cuttings. Branches are fed through a hardened-steel flywheel-mounted chipper knife that will turn them into woodchips that are ideal for flowerbed protection; while the shredder mechanism comprises nine metal flail-hammers which will finely mulch organic debris leaving you with a material the perfect consistency for fast decomposition. Built to last the Masport 6.5XL features a rotationally-moulded UV-resistant poly hopper and 5mm-thick steel side-plates ensuring the unit will cope with years of heavy-duty use. Longevity is further enhanced thanks to the provision of a belt-drive that will absorb any overly heavy load thereby sparing the crankshaft and engine from damage.
