Corncockle seeds

I have a little clump of these that seed themselves tidily year after year. They are in quite the wrong place but as they are extinct in the wild I let them get on with it as long as they’re happy. I collected a lot of seeds this year so if anyone would like some (perhaps you have a wildflower area?) PM me and I’ll send you some.

I never heard of this Sue. Can you please post a few photos so I can see what they are? Thanks

It is a lovely quite tall annual; look up Agrostemma githago, that is its botanical / scientific name.

Hope you did find some on line - Don' t be misled though, the flowers aren't as big as you might think from some of the photos!(perhaps abut 5/8 of an inch across.)

Will they grow in full shade?

I’ll have to google, Sue. I haven’t heard of these either.

They need sun Amsterdam so no good in deep shade. they will be happy in some light shade for part of the day.

They are an open structured plant, light and airy and flower for long periods.

Amsterdam they were a weed of cornfields, like poppies used to be so you can see they do well in full sun. I have had a clump growing on the north side of the house where there is no sun until early afternoon though and they seemed happy enough. Nothing venture nothing win - if you want to try let me know. They have been self seeding there for years. But as Eileen says, deep shade is a no no.
