Hi Everyone.

Just updating you all on my progress.

I am awaiting the arrival of my plug plants, including an herbaecous from j parkers and gardening direct.
I have ordered perennials as I love established gardens, and feel that we, ( I’ve now become chief gardener for mum and dad), will get more for our money as well as garden in the long run.

I have also bought some evergreen shrubs, which are at the moment situated in my porch.

I also bought a few perennial plants from wilkinsons and they are doing very well in my kitchen, after being planted on in newspapers ready for planting out after frost risk has passed. I am rapidly running out of room.lol

The plants I am most looking forward to receive are the hardy fuschias and lillies, as recommended by spritzhenry from parkers.

I am also awaiting delivery for my weeping cherry tree, christmas roses and my mums grapveine, from garden bargains.

I’ll let you know how i get on…

…now onto the veg.

My early potatoes are now ready to be planted outside, after chitting away for a few weeks but according to most reports I need to wait till at least March.
I bought my maincrop seed potatoes (desiree) from the gardening centre yesterday, currently chitting?? and boy don’t you just notice the difference in quality compared to the ones in wilkos etc…?

I am gonna grow my potatoes in bags, as I do not have a big garden, and have been quite successful doing it this way.

I have purchased and acquired some planters and i’m gonna use those using the square foot gardening principles. Hopefully I’ll get a good yield.

I have enough room to grow sweetcorn and onions in the ground, but everything else: peas, beans, peppers, lettuce, tomatos, shallots and carrots are going into pots, containers etc…

My big purchase of the month has been ….. and electric propagator. I am so excited. Right now I only have cucumber, pepper and onion seeds propagating. ( I may have to start again, as i planted these seeds in baskets and container compost which retains water, so i am gonna give them a few more day, and if no sign of life i am gonna have to start again using appropriate compost, I used that compost in haste, but maybe I’m gonna repent at leisure lol).

Anyway time to go. Speak to you all soon..

Thought and comments welcome

What a lot you've achieved! Thanks for the mention - I hope Parker's come up to expectations!!! (or I'm in trouble, as well as Parker's...lol).

You will LOVE your propagator, it gets seeds going much quicker and earlier. I wonder now how I ever did without mine.

I reckon you're right about where you buy things from - it's great to get a bargain sometimes, but you need good quality at other times - obviously, more expensive, but not in the long run.

Have to agree with you Spritz, every thing i've bought from J Parkers have been fine, no problems with any plants.

Thanks everybody for your encouraging words.

I know it is alot of work, but for some reason i am really enjoying it this time around. I'm just so glad I 've met so many people on here with so much patience and advice. There is only so much information you can get from a book. Keep up the good work everybody
