Hi, I live in a small village in Essex, yes you guessed good old London clay, Yuk. I have a small walled garden with a raised bed all around, which as you can imagine gets very dry in the summer. when i moved here 4 years ago, the whole garden was a shambles, because of the dryness I decided to make a cottage garden,which would hopefully keep some of the moisture in and it was a success, but last year all the plants looked a bit tired, very sad to see. So in the autumn I had a ton of good old well rotted horse manure delivered, and painstakingly wheel barrowed it from the drive along the side of the house and onto the garden, gosh it was a messy job, but hopefully it will be worth it, so I can take some photos for you to see.
