All change...

Well. that time of year again. Time to rip the heart out of the garden and lob it all on the compost heap!!
Been busy pulling up and composting all my courgettes, squashes, runner beans, french beans, peppers, tomatoes and all but 1 cucumber.
I had to leave one in – there are 5 cucumbers still trying their best to swell up and I don’t have the heart to give up on them just yet.
Tell you what…the garden has changed in the last 2 days! It looks so bare.
Space and soil where there was green and texture.
Here’s what we grew this year…no particular order…
Spring onions, carrots, parsnips, peppers, chard, beetleaf, beetroot, butternut squash, courgettes, radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, cress, sunflowers, sweet peas, rocket, mixed salad leaves, nasturtiums, strawberries, thai hot chillis, french beans, runner beans, peas, garlic, red onions, onions, spuds, red currants, black currants, raspberries, mints, curry plants, marjoram, thyme, sage, dill, chives, rosemary, lavender, honeysuckle, clematis and lots of flowers for the bugs & bees wherever I had space.
That kept us pretty busy!!
Put in garlic, onions and broad beans this week, I’ll put up-turned plastic pop-bottles over them (as cheap cloches) in nov’ to keep the frosts off till early spring…I know it’s pampering them, but hey, poke me in the eye!

You certainly grew a large crop of veggies/herbs...bet the meals were delicious, created from your garden. It will look barren now but you've already re-started the cycle with your garlic, onions and broad beans.
Hope everything overwinters for you and you have a great crop next year to follow on from this year's success.
