Spring around the corner.

Looking in the very wet and miserable patch of ground which I refer to as my garden I am pleased to say that the first snowdrops are in bloom, various perennials are pushing their shoots above the ground and the buds on the Clmatis alata are starting to burst. Does this mean that the winter is coming to an end and spring is not far away?

I have various bulbs coming up but my snowdrops have decided to have a lie-in I think. There's no sign of them yet.
I do hope spring isn't far away. I'm fed up with the cold now.
Oh and welcome to GOY too :o)

I read from somewhere that snowdrops were fussy to flower the first year. It is not the case here, all I have put in late last year are in flower and more are showing up..

I was looking today and got ridiculously excited about the tiny green shoots I saw peeping above the ground! I can't remember which bulbs I planted where so I'll get a nice surprise hopefully! lol

Never mind Gilli, snowdrops look great in the snow.

It will be a while yet until I can see anything peeping up through the snow Toto. I planted some Muscari in the fall so I'm hoping to see that in a few months. No snowdrops though.

Oh, Gilli - you'll have to make do with photos on GOY for the moment - I know it's not the same really, but it might help a bit... :-)

Madmum know what you mean ...... we put sticks in the garden so we would not dig up the bulbs (bare ground put in plant,), sometimes the bulbs were replanted several times, no wonder they never grow.....so not this time, forgot about our resident badger and Mr Fox, I reckon they are using them to play Pooh sticks, there are no sticks to be seen anywhere...hey ho!!

I hope you're right toto.I don't know which part of Essex you're in but in this part, it doesn't feel like spring is that close. Like Majeekahead, we've got a lot of water standing around in the garden.

Dottydaisy, I'm giggling about the Pooh sticks, but what a shame after planning so carefully!

Hi Paulthegard I live about eight miles from Southend-on-Sea and I also have standing water but my snowdrps can swim and we are at least having some sunshine although only occasionally.
