Bonsai Ficus

I recieved this Bonsai as a present from my mother for Christmas. Unfortunately it had lived near a draft for a while and it done nothing but shed leaf after leaf.

Having asked a few questions on here at the time of recieving the Ficus. I have followed what I was told which was keep away from drafts, water every few days and fingers crossed. Well I have done just that and he is starting to put on lots of new growth.

So as the spring arrives I shall start to give him a bit of a feed as well.
Thanks to those that gave me some direction on the care of an indoor Bonsai.

Great news. Indoor Bonsai can be a bit temperamental, but it sounds like yours has now settled in. We had an outdoor version that we kept for 25 years in the garden and sadly last year it popped its clogs and we were unable to save it.

This is the only indoor bonsai that I own. I recieved it a Christmas from my mum. She bought it half price, I believe it still cost about £40.00
I have four little ones outdoors that I am trying. Seedlings that I found growing in the garden. 2 Oaks, 1 Willow, 1 Sycamore oh and a small acer.

You are adventurous, Bonsai are very expensive because of all the work involved, would be interested in seeing your outdoor ones.

I have over wintered the outdoor ones in the green house as I am led to believe that frost is a killer as they are only in shallow pots. Hopefully now they are back outside in a sheltered spot they should start to put on new growth. I shall put some pics up as the leaves develop.

you can give a little bit of feed, not for much longer but it will definitely benefit from some bonsai food right now - your ficus will love humidity, so if possible mist it well and especially on a hot day where it can wallow in humid ficus heaven! What an improvement - mine lives in the summerhouse until it gets colder and it has trebled it's leaves this summer....
