Hi Nancym, these are some great pictures. We went couple years ago and, apart from annuals, we caught the garden at an "in between" stage. Saying that, it was always going to be second best to the lily pond. Just a pity we got there after the wisteria was over! Ive added a few pics to yours, hope you dont mind.

This is a stunning garden. Visit in June or Autumn especially, but its a joy whenever! Good paths. Wonderful selection of trees. Bridges over cascades. Fantastic waterful with exotic trees at the base. Highly recommended.

Heard it mentioned on Kent radio a couple of weeks ago but could not make it.....maybe next year, I live in Faversham so am quite nearby, I see your picture of a brugmansia, do you grow them? I have five different ones and have to stop myself from buying more....quite a job!!!! Mary

Would love to visit - too bad I'm in Australia....

Visited recently and really enjoyed our day.
12 acres of walled gardens that for 50yrs were neglected and allowed to run wild. Until 2002 these lovely grounds were choked with elder and tree suckers, what you see today is a lifelong project to reinstate these important gardens.

We visited recently on a perfect day. The garden was at its best. It is not too large to get round. The woodland section is fascinating. The dry garden is free to wander round. There is a new cafeteria with a terrace. The plant centre is wonderful. A plantspersons dream. I bought more Heuchera....couldn't resist. GJ managed the dry garden before he went and sat in the car, while I went round the garden.

I agree, love the place and that lovely woodland walk to the cove at the sea...

I visit this garden very often. This year was a big disappointment as there was very little there. It looked very dry and tired and has probably not seen rain for many months.

Formal Governor's garden to the rear of the Governor's residence, and several vegetable and flower gardens between the restored dwellings. The original fortified town dates back to the mid 1700s.

Had a look at the website for this garden and it looks like the owners have retired and closed it to the public at the end of last season. Pity as the pictures look lovely but I hope they enjoy the garden for themselves now they have retired.

Lovely gardens, well worth a visit. Both the more formal gardens and the woodland areas are very relaxing to walk around. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet around the Dingle. There is a National Trust tearoom which is excellent as always but if you don't fancy that there is a cafe further down the road towards Bridgnorth called The Food Stop Cafe. Excellent food and a walm welcome. We usually pop there after a visit to Dudmaston for a coffee and something to eat.

I have been to RHS Wisley today with my college crew, and i would like to say, i was really excited about going. Have been studying RHS Lev 2 in Horticulture, and today has really expanded my mind. Most stunning plant of the day for me was The Bird of Paradise in the glasshouse, but even though we have attended a little pre-season, i was most impressed with the display. Would highly recommend a visit by any new gardeners out there, or just anyone who wants a nice leisurely day out... Much love TLG
