Single mom, bought older home and trying to re-establish the grounds that are old, sunken and full of thatch. Also I am trying to establish some landscaping and perennials. I love big showy flowers but am finding that there are not many in Zone 4! Not much time/money but am willing (with the begrudging help of my 2 teenage boys) to work on this project. I say food for hard labor is a good trade! We live where the growing season is short and the winter is LONG! I am so excited to be a part of a gardening group online since there isn't much time in "real life" to be out talking to people :-)
