My granddaughter likes any creature that would raise the hackles on just about anyone’s neck and give them goosebumps. She’s seven and she invited me to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry to see the lizard show. You’re RIGHT…I had to go, couldn’t let people think her grandmother is a pansy. Photos aren’t great through the glass…surely you didn’t think I’d crawl in with them did you?

She'd love it here - we have to watch where we put our feet in case we tread on a slightly-slower-than-normal wall lizard. I think our lovely long hot dry Summer may have produced extras and we're knee-deep in the little critters! There are also salamanders living in the animal trough up the lane. We also keep having to evict 2" long Great Green Bush Crickets (or the same one!) from our bedroom most nights as well as looking out for the safety of our fingers from a large 4" long Praying Mantis who lives in a tub of pelargoniums. Lovely photos! The Reptile House was always my favourite place at the Zoo as a child.

I have seen plenty of geckko's when we were in Africa but we went to a reptile park in the centre of Durban and the snakes there were huge, and I got to hold a monitor lizard.

Nariz,
Oh yes, she really would love it there! Looking at your profile, I suspect I would love it there too! We went to an IMAX movie about Praying Manis and other insects while we were there too. It was a whole day of creepy crawlies!

Bobq, we only have a few salamanders and newt's here and I understand there are Horn Toads out in the drier areas, south of us. Not sure I would want to hold a monitor, I would be more apt to wave at it from a distance. :-) We got my granddaughter a T-shirt with "Komoto Dragons Rock!" on it for her birthday and a small teddy bear with a matching T-Shirt.

Ooooooo..now I like the shirt...I would wear it! oh and the teddy too...! My kinda girl....!

It was your kind of shirt! She loved it, had a big picture of a komoto dragon on it.
