Wisteria's Profile

I am a 70 year old Geordie brought up in Newcastle in a terraced house with a concrete back yard I did not have a garden of my own until I moved into my pre- war semi detached at the age of 42, where I have a 50 x 30 feet garden. I would describe myself as a keen but not good gardener, I make many mistakes one of the first when I bought a cheap Wisteria plant in a pot from Littlewoods because my wife had bought me a garden book with a photo of a beautiful Wisteria and I thought it would look tremendous at the bottom of my garden viewed from my rear window. And it does! After waiting initially for 12 years I was informed it requires pruning twice a year. However I can recommend it to anyone who has the space and the viewpoint.
