I moved to Scotland from Bavaria 15 years ago and worked as a nanny. Sadly, I didn't really appreciate the beautiful Victorian walled garden at the first house I lived for what it was, but then, neither did the new cairn terrier puppy that the family I stayed with had just aquired. It dug holes left, right and center. Fifteen years on my own garden is small, urban and definitely not professionally done. I just see so many beautiful plants at my work, which takes me to many pretty gardens, and I want them all. I've already taken over my neighbour's garden with his permission, and was fortunate enough to get an allotment from the local city council two years ago, which is coming on very nicely. As I have a full-time job and do voluntary work, pottering about in the garden is a little treat to wind down in the evening and it's therapy. Most of all I appreciate the original creator and designer of life, who put so much beauty and potential for variety into the plants and who gave us the sense and understanding to work with his creation and appreciate it!
