Anne Marie's Orchids

As promised I am writing this blog to show off Anne Marie’s orchids.
Most orchids grown by Anne Marie are native to the region. They are kept in a greenhouse, and are in large quantities. Naturally some were in bloom and some were not. I tried to photograph the most interesting ones because they are many.
Some of the orchids are so tiny that you can barely see them in the foliage.
Finally the owner of this preserved beauty.
Since our visit to this wonderful couple, I have been looking more carefully at the woods around us.

What a beautiful thing to have a collection of native orchids like this. In the UK we have a few native ones, all protected. I don't think I could grow them at home because they like natural conditions like meadow and bog. But I enjoyed seeing your friend's orchids. I have three or four in pots, one is in flower but the rest are just quietly growing.

Beautiful specimens Aleyna, thanks for posting. Love pic 2 and 3 especially.

Karen, I admire Anne Marie because she is preserving the native orchid species. She commented that some of them were taken from branches of the trees that line the road, and were cut to make way for the power lines.
With the knowledge and dedication she has to her flowers, she could be cultivating phalenopsis, dendrobiuns and so many colorful and lush ones. However, she gives preference to the natives.
Thank you Kate :)

What a stunning collection!
There are native orchids growing in a nearby field Karen, the perimeter is used by dog walkers but the centre is full of beautiful wild flowers, I love walking my dog there just to see our natural flora in such a happy state and my heart leaps when I spot the orchids coming into flower. Such dainty elegance!

They are so lovely and some are very unusual. The cream and pale pink one is my favourite, very pretty.
Orchids are so nice to have at home because they flower for such a long time and are easy to care for.

They are interesting plants and there are so many different types. I like to see them in those hanging baskets :)

We are in the Chiltern Hills, Aleyna, about 30 miles west of London.

Xela, I googled (funny verb) it. Very nice and greeny place. I loved the pottery. Remind me a trip to Bournemouth, where I bought an antique tea set for my daughter.

Hywel,
yes I like the hanging pots and baskets as well. Unfortunatelly we have too much wind here, almost impossible to have hanging plants. I'll try under the porch when the basement get ready. The columns and beams are concrete, but the porch floor is wood, I think it will be easier to attach the baskets to the floor support. And the plants will be better protected from the wind.

That sounds a good idea :)
