Very well-manicured butterfly palms in Hillcrest, San Diego, California. It’s a common palm here, but this one is very ornamental against these condos. Photo taken on May 16, 2025.

Chrysalidocarpus baronii, onilahensis and lafazamanga are much better suited for growing up in the SF Bay Area. Chrysalidocarpus lutescens look horrible, and usually will die in winter. I know there’s more species that grow up there, also.
Of course, Chrysalidocarpus (Dypsis) decipiens grow very well there, being the hardiest species.

I think its worth a try in the bay area but in a very modest size.
