Blog 17. Making the second stream
3 comments
Whilst we were making the first stream we temporarily placed the bridge on another path – it really looked good there from all angles – so we decided to have a bridge in that position – but you can’t have a bridge without a stream!!!!
Unfortunately, we made our paths to last! Every running metre of path taken up generated six large bags of rubble.
This time we used a domestic cold water tank for the sump.
We decided to use pre-caste sections for this stream and to seal them with a few coats of waterproofing solution
Looking from the other direction – with the top pool yet to be put in place.
The top pool in position
Finished – but then we built the pagoda in the area behind!
We also reinforced the bridge with additional uprights – we didn’t want little children to fall through into the York stone sump hole!
Spring
This is the same view as in the photo above. The dark green Yew has survived from the original planting – it tolerates being submerged by the Gunnera for many months!
