"Phormium" Cookianum Duet

Hi Friends.
I have a Phormium Cookianum Duet that has got way too big so it had to go :o((, wasn’t looking forward to getting it out but my Husband Barry set to work on it, I always remember my Dad using a Scaffold Pole & a large lump of concrete to move thing when he was alive so we use scaffold poles now, Barry dug around the plant then hammered the pole in underneath the plant with a sledge hammer then bounced up and down on the other end of the pole while holding onto our Arbour (Who needs a fair ground) LOL, he also used a spade & a shovel Ha! Shovels handle is a different shape now LOL, after a while of Huffing & Puffing, Digging & Shovelling it started to move, a bit more Bouncing & Grunting then with my help we gave it a good Yank & out it came so with the help of these items….. Scaffold Pole, Spade, Shovel & Sledge Hammer it came out a treat :o))) LOL
I have pulled some of the plant to bits to make new plants to put in pots and give away to anyone that want a piece of it for their garden around here, Ha! As long as they put it in a place where it will have plenty of room LOL.

Here are some Pics.
Hope you don’t get a crick in your neck, I took the pics with my iPhone, I did try turning them round in my pictures but still didn’t work Grrr!

Now I have a big hole left :o)) I will be careful to read about what I plant in future LOL.

Oh I was looking forward to an action shot of the jumping! Very ingenious indeed, brilliant! Did the blue shafted spade come a cropper in the process?

He! He! Stergram, I forgot to add the one of him jumping on the pole so I have added it at the bottom, I had to take a sneaky one of him as he would have downed tools if he had seen me taking it LOL.

What a team...well done.
They do,grow very big, those Phormiums.I had one at my old garden but, I could see how big it was going to grow and took it out before it started to swamp everything else. my neighbour asked if she could have a bit...but, she planted it right next to our fence/wall, so, within a couple years it was all over my drive!

Lincslass. Firstly fill the hole in, I'm not sure what to put in the raised bed so I'll just dig it over for now & put in new plants or some veg next year, I want something that is low maintenance as the garden is quite big for me now & seeing the years are rolling on I need things without too much work involved LOL :o))
