Visit to West Dean open Garden

On May 1st. . it being a holiday. I thought to visit a local Garden open to the public. A Booklet sent out with Gardening Which. Showed the nearest was West Dean, near Hook in Hampshire. I found the right side road and kept looking at likely entrances.. Seeing a car behind me I waved it past. A few hundred yards later it stopped and reversed. Ah We’ve missed it I thought, but no. A sign said Garden Closed. Must be a mistake I thought , they have forgotten to change it.. So I drove in and parked, got out the Camera and took the following pictures. A Lady looking somewhat cross appeared. I dont know why you have got closed on the gate , I said. We are closed she replied. But it says in the booklet from Which you are open. " I know nothing about that " she said.. I apologised and left. It would seem she is returning to her homeland, having exceeded her visa. , so someone to whom I mentioned it I has told me .
