Task in hand

Sat in the conservatory, with my lovely cat and radio, my mind returns yet again to the garden. It rained really hard last night through this morning, so it certainly looks better from this side of the glass. Judging by the smile on Addys face, I’d say he agrees!
After a great BH weekend with barbque and freinds, so much birdsong, young wren and parant spending much of the weekend in the garden along with young sparrows, bluetits, blackbirds etc…. all taking advantage of my unkempt garden and the feeding opportunities all about. I can’t help worrying if all these lovely freinds would move on when I redesign it – I do hope not.
My back garden is top of the list……
The best bit I guess is under the Sycamore where Lilly Of The Valley reside (complete with stray fairies from the Glen), currently flowering Ivy, seasoning firewood and a big fat old toad underneath …. lovely fragrance in there. Elsewhere, bits I like are the rasperries blackcurrents and strawberries which are doing amazingly well. You see, my Father-in-law is a wonderful help as we are often too distracted as a family to get stuff done and his help is lovingly given and much appreciated. Raking up last year he did great job in collecting all the builders debris and garden rubbish along with my strawberries which I was taking runners off in prep for a new home…. but to their credit, they returned so strong. Sadly, two weekd ago, Lilly Of The V. was absolutely gorgeous spilling into the lawn…. until F-in-L…….!!!! Bless!
Front garden is a later project. Previous owner loved her garden but didn’t do gardening so much. Bits and bobs collected and gifted, placed around the place in hope rather than with purpose. I was no better however I’ve seen too many Gardeners Worlds now and admired too many gardens on my doorstep to appreciate these things don’t happen by accident. I love the pink thing in the middle (Azalia??) flanked by the spectacular red tipped (spring) bushes. The box lookes great and there are indeed other great elements but it doesn’t quite hang together does it? The lawn has caused some real heartache…. recovering from a good weed an feed it’s rather patchy isn’t it…. I like to console myself when the moss flowers and the fungus reaches skywards :))) doesn’t seem quite so bed then….. one day lawn, one day!!!!
So there you have it…. so much to do, so much pen and paper… imagination… perhaps some constructive advise is called for…. proffessional help… who knows. A new journey begins.

Armegeddon it!!!!!! Well I've been grumbling at it for these 8yrs while I've been sorting the house out but since the conservatory has nicked half the lawned area I'm afraid it just can't be put off any more. So yes, radical change with my fury freind high on list of considerations.

Good luck with the redesigning. I hope Addy will help you. I'm no good at giving suggestions so I'll just tell you how fantastic it looks when you've finished :o)

Thank you all....
Amed with a variety of opinions from landscapers, and some pretty daunting numbers, there's certainly plenty to consider. Now that's what I'm best at.... considering...... contemplating..... never been the fastest worker especially when it comes to stuff that matters, particularly when I feel obliged to discover new skills!
Must be quite frustrating to those of alternative temperaments however, the results usually speak for themselves and with few exceptions, our experience of DIY is almost always preferable to the 'professional'(!!!!!). That said, I find it fascinating that all our potential landscapers have been lovely people - wish I could employ them all..... curious :-))

A lovely garden and loads of plans and what a gorgeous cat, are you just going to tweak bits here and there or totally redesign?
