peas and beans!

My first sugar snap peas were picked and eaten (scrummy!) today, and the broad beans will be ready at the weekend. I love this time of year. We’ve been eating home-grown lettuce and other leaves for several weeks now young beetroot leaves are good with salads too. Our first purple headed broccoli this week as well, so the harvesting season starts NOW!!
Went into the garden for 10 minutes today to water some pots, and came in 3 hours later, having dead headed two borders, neatened the lawn edging, cleared another bed of rampant geraniums, forget me nots and small euphorbia, and replanted with seed-sown cosmos, as well as moving a few other plants!! I don’t know where the time goes. I’ll have to tackle the rest at the weekend. It takes a while to keep filling up the bird feeders, but I have to keep them sweet, because they seem to have kept the garden virtually free of nasty bugs and aphids! That is, apart from those obnoxious vine weevils, which do the damage underground, where you can’t see what they’re doing! The b——ers!! Happy gardening all of you out there. Annie
