That was quick Sticki! I was still reading my own blog. We have had a lovely weekend and so close to home :o))))

some great memories ~ it seems the torch is the nearest we will get to the olympics, i would love to have seen it in the outer hebrides too but just missed it there.

Great blog Annella, really special that your dad got to see it with his grandson. As others have said, something we probably wont see again.

I saw the torch relay in Sandwell. Not quite as enjoyable a day since I was working lol. Had to patrol the relay rout from Oldbury, through West Bromwich into Smethwick. Since its about 8 miles in total and it was really busy (plus closed road giving us issues) we may have missed the Smethwick bit, just about made it to the end of the route to see the torch go past. Ho hum, was a great atmosphere all along the route though, really nice to see. Last time we saw crowds like that in West Bromwich it was during the riots last year - not quite so nice.

My grandson was with his scout group at the gates at Burghley House when the torch came last week, nannie had the job of escorting him there on time, I wouldn`t have missed it even though it was raining most of the time, I think the torch had as many spectators as the queen did a few weeks back, my grandson was with me that day as well, good days to remember...

It really was a lovely weekend just doing simple things together and I came home with a boot full of pots and plants from my mum. Bless her she digs and divides every thing I like in her garden ready for when we visit :o)))

my boss did it in lytham here, we nominated him as he has raised thousands for hospice and done over 12 marathons if not more, he is 75 and fit as a butchers dog lol.
£200 to keep the tourch after, his kids bourght it for him for his birthday.

When it was here the heavens opened and the torch had to be diverted of the Prom for saftey reasons.

How marvellous that your Dad got to do a repeat performance with his grandson, such a special day for you all.

Jane dad gave Derek his camera to take a pic as the torch went by so he could video it. Derek took some good close up shots unfortunately none of the flame or torch......Well she was a very pretty girl LOl!!!!!

Oh LOL. If Mick had done it, she would have been out of focus as well. Did you see Willi's picture yesterday. Hiarious. Take a look. I guarentee it will put a smile (grimmace) on your face. lol :-)))
