Rhododendron time

I planted this baby in 1992. It was a “lost label” & I thought it said “max 3 ft” it seems to have been 3 meters….And some! Every year it adds six inches. I dead head by hand & have the odd accident breaking off young flowering shoots for the next season. Step ladder & wooden stool might just do it for later this year. The middle & top is jam packed

that is a lovely specimen and the 'twins' are pretty too.

The flowers used to be smaller. Is that a bad memory or normal for mature plants? The flowers are a magnet for bees big time.

That is a really nice looking rhododendron bush, lovely colour flowers, I have a tall one in my back garden but it has gone really scraggy. it is about 7 foot tall but all the foliage seems to be at the top 25% of the bush and nothing apart from the odd shoots on the lower part. Think I need to have a read how to seriously prune it back and see if I can start again with it.
