Icing sugar???

I was trawling through various gardening sites the other day, & found an unusual gardening tip. It recommended using icing sugar in place of hormone rooting compound. A lot cheaper & just as effective. I wonder how many others have used this as an alternatve. In fact, who thought of it in the first place?

What an odd idea, surely it would make the cuttings roots too damp ?
