Your comment "...they seem to recognise the car ..." brough back a memory of when we were driving the 10 hours back from visiting my daughter in the south and stopped at a bar/restaurant for a 'comfort break.' We pulled up in the large car park and went up the steps to the bar, passing a small flock of sparrows on the way. When we came out to the car we saw the sparrows all lined up on the front bumper picking off the insects - a Sparrow Sushi Bar! Clever little birds!
