Hi all,It has been so horrid for the last few days i thought i would show you where we live.

This is our very small front garden

A veiw from our bedroom window

This a view from the other side of the River Teign ( Shaldon)

This is the rail Tunnel between Teignmouth and Dawlish, its at the end of the sea wall.

This small Seafront cafe is open all year round, usually only closed on xmas day

This is one of the towns tiny Streets, lot’s of history down these streets.

The Seafront Promenade

This is the Teigns back beach where the Trawlers and Coasters come in to load/unload

If you look closely you can just make out Shaldon Bridge

In the back ground are the Quays.

I've just clicked on "Like" but really I could do with a "Adore" button to click on instead. Every year when I was young we used to spend our summer holidays at Teignmouth, and these pictures have got the memories flooding back. We stayed in a top-floor attic flat in a big Victorian house with views over the estuary, used to go cockling with spades and buckets around the bridge when the tide was out - went mackerel fishing, spent our days on the beach below the cliffs at Shaldon (having run shouting down the smugglers' tunnel - is it still there or is it all concrete these days?). My little brother would sail his little boat on the boating pond near the pavilion, and we would buy fish and chips in Shaldon, walking back past the hotel which always smelt of stale beer and Brown Windsor soup, across the bridge to go home and play Monopoly when it rained (which it did quite a lot). That view across to the Ness is so familiar, and I can still remember the tarry, salty, seaweedy scent of the little back beach, too, as the family we stayed with had a little boat kept drawn up there.
This will be getting on for sixty years ago now, and it's still as clear as yesterday, smells and all. Thank you so much for that Sue. You've made my day. I'm getting quite emotional now!

I remember Teignmouth Shaldon and Dawlish very well - we have not been down there for quite a while - in fact many years - we used to stay at Shell Cove House in Dawlish - and you were able to walk through the woods down to the beach - ah memories ! - thanks for sharing

I only have to go back to last summer,Chrissue..a bus ride from Babbacombe..to Shaldon,Teignmouth, and Dawlish..stopped off at them all...a lovely hot day..yes,we did have a few that week ,at the beginning of August..!
I know I mentioned about being there, but I have found my pics, which I had forgotten about..I was busy doing those Eden Project blogs,..the main reason we were down there..Most of mine are of those unusual sculptures, created by people with learning difficulties..did you see them on the promenade ? ..I found them very interesting...

Your front garden with your pretty hanging baskets and those fuchsia cascading over the wrought iron work, was a great introduction to the enviable views of the sea. I bet you never tire of them as they must change from day to day depending on the weather. Lucky you.

Thank you all,I am so pleased i could bring some happy memories to you,I will put on another Teignmouth post soon. Some day's its impossible to see Shaldon for the mist.

I to have many memories, taken there on holiday by my parents lots of rain and flooding ,arriving home the news was all about the Lynmouth Disaster, not a happy holiday had just got me a girl friend and they took me away from here for a whole week.Made up for it we have been married 52 years now and been back lots of times.

Congrats on being married for 52 years you are lucky like me we have been married for 48 not many people have been so lucky :)

4 Mar, 2012

Its not all luck though - sometimes it involves lots of understanding, forgiveness, give & take etc. A lot of folk nowadays seem to give up too soon! (42 years)

4 Mar, 2012

I so agree Steragram, congrats on your 42 years :)

It takes a lot of hard work and hiding the meat cleaver on bad days. I must be a b****r to live with and OH is a nightmare, but we muddle through. 43 years. I think one of the hardest things I've ever had to learn to do was adjust to having his company 24/7. Thank goodness for a garden!

Did you always manage to keep it hidden Gattina? I have to admit to a fairly hard punch, but only once and I felt terrible about it!

5 Mar, 2012

you two made me laugh..I'm sending you an ASBO each ! Lol.

5 Mar, 2012

I'm told I am a very scary woman when my dander is up (and sometimes when it isn't). I got a reputation for polite invective at my last job, and people used to come to my office door to hear me take offenders apart over the telephone. Worked every time. Who needs a cleaver? Bloomer, you don't want me to tell you what to do with your ASBO, do you?

5 Mar, 2012

You don't need to,Gattina..I am telepathic! Lol...you think the nicest things..:o))

6 Mar, 2012

I wouldn't do that to you!

6 Mar, 2012

Bless you...:o))..did you get the snow again ? hope not.!

6 Mar, 2012

'Fraid so. It's snowing as I write, and has been since about 9 this morning. It isn't settling, though, and I'm spring cleaning and have all the windows open to air the house and dry the paint. What with all the energy I'm expending, I'm certainly not cold. Tomorrow's forecast is better - should stop snowing about 4 a.m., but the temperatures will be quite a bit lower. Sunny, though. Hoorah!

6 Mar, 2012

Glad it's not settling,Gattina. It's been.lovely sunshine here too..but I haven't been energetic like you..went to town, and had a browse around....OH likes to visit the second hand market on Tuesdays..(I don't ) .so had a bit of 'me' time before we met up for lunch..He has finally managed to collect the rest of the set of 'Bob the Builder'
accessories for our Grandson..'Roley' the steamroller, has been very elusive ! Lol.
