Hampton Court Palace and gardens

Have just looked at photos taken on a visit to Hampton Court Palace, and thought I’d share them with any GOYers who maybe haven’t been to this amazing place. We loved it – steeped in history, and those gardens……….fantastic!!

Beautiful place. I have been there many-many times. I am sure you saw the vine. It is huge and a few hundred years old.

Thank you Constance, lovely pictures. At Christmas they go back to a certain period in history eg: Tudor, all the guides are dressed in appropriate costume, the kitchen, for example is working and they tell you what they are making for the feast, they explain how and why, it's really fascinating, I spent hours in there!

Thank you for sharing. I went there only once on school trip. It was February, not much going on that time of the year but really enjoyed it. My group went home after our tour but I stayed longer wandering around:) Hope to come back there soon:) and in summer, lol.

Thanks everyone for kind comments. It's a beautiful place. It's good fun too - "Henry VIII' wandering around and having fun with visitors, calling all the women 'wenches' etc., and all his 'wives' in beautiful costumes. A great day out - food was lovely too.

Thanks M. Seeing Hampton Court Palace on TV as a venue for some of the Olympic events has made me want to go there again - it's beautiful.

My son works there on and off - he often "interprets" (ie plays) Henry VIII. He was Henry during the flower show two or three years ago when they had the Tudor theme. It is a very beautiful place, and he enjoys being there.

That's marvellous! What a great part time job! He may well have called me a 'winsome wench'! Lol x

I dare say he may have done! Lol! (There are two or three of them) Sometimes he's at the Tower of London or Dover Castle, and sometimes he's interpreting other characters. He's rather fond of Henry, though! (Delusions of grandeur, I say!)

Thank you so much for putting this on! Lovely photos, and the gardens are absolutely gorgeous. I'll have to make time to go over and see them myself, you've made me want to see it even more! I love the topiary, and they must place that gravel out stone by stone, it's so perfect!I have to put this on my favourites so I can drool over it in winter!!:0)
