Hi all, not been on here for a while, sorted out my garden today.I have a peony that belonged to my Grandmother, hence very old,it really needs to be moved, but it is starting to grow,I dont want it to die,if any one has any tips on when to move it, I would appreciate the help.Alas, I do not know what species of peony it is, only it has creamy/pink flowers and red/green leaves, and is lovely.

oh if it falls apart you now have divisions. Plant each lump with its growing tip as above.

I've had to move peonies before too. It's early enough. I'm sure it will be fine. Like seaburngirl says....keep as much soil around it as you can and plant it at the same depth it was at. Deeper and it won't flower, shallower and it will probably die.

Hello Crackedpot, I have also had to move treasured paeonies. Dig up as much soil around it as you can and move it to your preprepared hole to the same depth as it was. Keep it well watered but not waterlogged. It is very early in the season so it pobably wont notice. I have moved other paeonies at different times and have not lost one yet. good luck.
