as long as you are enjoying your garden then i wouldnt worry about it being a mess, didnt look it to me in the photos.

Don't put yourself down - this is autumn and most gardens are getting ready to be out to bed, so of course some of the summer flowers are a mess! If you did a poll of UK members, they would all say the same. Anyway, your garden looked fine to me.
