Today in the warm sunny garden..

Here’s a few bits and bobs from today in the sun..

As you can see from the first three photos, I have a slight string algae problem which I am gradually rectifying with cloverleaf treatment.. My waterlilies are gradually sending up new lily pads too and the fish are loving the heat.

The photos above show the colours in the borders :)

And the final three show the fish enjoying the sun :)

What's the cloverleaf treatment Dan?

It's for the string algae in the pond, you put it in a watering can and water into the pond, and then keep your pump and fountain running to circulate it. all the algae then will either float to the surface or sink where it can be removed :)

have you considered adding a few aquatic snails to you pond? All they do is eat algae all day.

I have some, and some grass carp which eat it too. However nothing seems to be working this year. My plants aren't big enough yet to give more surface coverage. Will also be adding some more watercress because that always works :)

Some algae is good though. It takes up excess nitrogen & CO2, and adds O2 to the water.

I didn't know that Dan. Do you plant it in a basket at the edge? I don't have a pump, just relying on a natural balance.

When I use watercress, I just have it on my waterfall in the moving water, but I have some on the still water in a piece of songe just to hold it safe, I never plant it that way the water gets right to the stem, producing roots and more stems. But it does grow quickly in the sun :)

Your pond looks healthy and the fish look very happy in the sun.
My pond is now settling down quite well. The fish are coming along nicely....they have been sunbathing today in the lovely warm sunshine.
Keep up the good work Dan

Thankyou! I've fed and fertilised the last two pots of waterlily too today, so hopefully they shall grow very well this year :)
