Winter garden..

Hi guys, I hope you’re all well! Here’s hopefully some pictures of the pond covered in ice this morning. I’ve just got the two airstones running rather than the bowl and waterfall as I’m currently taking the waterfall down!

Got a few big projects planned hopefully for the next few weeks before my 24rh birthday although I’m currently off work with a chest infection which is playing havoc with my asthma!

Best Stay in the warm for a while Dan! Have you made a hole in the ice anywhere? Can't see on on the pic)A small area needs to be kept open to avid build up of toxic gases.
What motivated you to remove the waterfall?

Thanks mossy! And yeah Yorkslass there’s an air stone bubbling away keeping a hole at the far right corner and there’s one just out of shot at this bottom end! :) I’m rebuilding the waterfall as I didn’t like how the water dropped into the pond :)

I didn't know what an airstone was. Yes I see the clear area at the right now.Sounds like a good idea.

It’s like a little Pumice type stone that sits in the water, to a pump that sits outside the pond blowing air through a tube connected to the ‘air stone’ in turn creating bubbles that upon hitting the waters surface draw oxygen into the water :) the surface agitation keeps the water rippling enough to prevent it freezing usually :)

Hi Dan, we have a couple in our pond also. I have to say it definitely helps aeration for the fish doesn’t it! Looks nice too when it’s causing a little bubbling effect...
Dan, I do hope you feel better soon! It’s such a worry you having asthma and all this covid flying around. You must be feeling shocking Bad with a chest infection. Please take care and look after yourself, or hopefully someone is looking after you, bless. Your health comes first! Plenty of time for your projects.
Best wishes x

I agree with you about that Dan. I'm staying in. Seem to be getting soft now that I'm into my 83rd year! I hope you will be better soon. Enjoy your time off & take it easy.
