My 5th Birthday

Hi everyone, I’ve just realized that tomorrow will be my 5th birthday on GoY, it doesn’t seem that long ago, and I only found the site by accident, I was in the process of buying seeds to start off a load of perennials, to replace the annuals which I used to grow every year, and a seed supplier was selling seeds of Leycesteria crocothyrsus, but saying they were totally hardy, wheras I had always been told that they were only frost hardy, so I was looking on the internet for confirmation, 1 way or the other, I was getting nowhere, some sites saying they were totally hardy, others frost hardy, so seeing GoY, I decided to ask on there, I’m so glad that I did, it has become a sort of addiction, but in a good way, and I have ’’virtually’’ met a lot of very nice people, I have also learned things that I didn’t know, from other members, so now any spare time I get is spent on GoY, when I can’t get out into the garden, and I can spend several hours on here, so here’s to the next 5 years, { I’m glad 5 years is only my GoY age, I don’t think I would like it to be my real age, } Derek.

Gosh Derek, I have just checked by GoY age and I am six this very month. Doesn't time fly on this site? I don't know what I would do without my gardening friends.

I can't remember how I stumbled on Goy but you're right it quickly becomes an addiction. There are some really great people here.And isn't it a surprise when you see a photo of someone you've "known" for several years?

Yes same for me found it looking for some info or other and enjoy my time on here with a lovely bunch of people from far and wide and with so many various interests ! :-)

Hi everyone thank you for your comments, it seems most of us have found GoY while searching the net for answers to gardening queries, {fortunately for us}, and having found the site, become addicted very quickly, but I don't know what I would do without it now, especially in the dark days of winter when even though there are less questions, we till have the blogs, and photo's to look at, Derek.

It seems a lot of us have stumbled on Goy, whilst looking for information, my joining was for similar reasons but it quickly turned into an addiction. Thank goodness for Goy during the down days in winter, when one can't get into the real garden. So many kind people on here, generous with knowledge and experience. Thank you Derek, for blogging what a lot of us have experienced.

Happy Goy Birthday for tomorrow Derek, the years are flying past aren't they, I too enjoy my time spent on here and agree it it has become part of my daily routine and I wouldnt want to lose that, I found Goy when I was looking for answers about my apple tree which was looking unhealthy at the time, it took a while to pluck up the courage to actually join in but like you I now know people from all parts of the world and I too consider them friends, I have learnt so much over the years, the only downside is my wishlist and that gets longer.....
