Have you got a drawer full of odd balls of wool ?

I have started knitting a new ‘rainbow’ gardening pullover for next Spring.
Its just the basic rib in cream, then 4 rows of each colour
in plain knitting, working the back and front
at the same time to use up the wool equally. Which is better than doing Fair Isle patterns then running out of a colour.
By doing this it definitely rests my eyes from watching T/V.
Which can only be good.
When the drawer is empty it will stay empty for ripening my green Tomatoes next September.
Recommend.

I use my oddments to knit small toys for the charity stall I support so I usually wait until now to start making. I have a wonderful pattern for robins to hang off the tree.

I have lots of fabric bits too and as I have taken up patchwork my stash is slowly going down. I'm planning a rainbow quilt :o)

don't forget to post a picture of your 'rainbow' when it is done.

Sorry SB photos on line are not in my repertoire ! I just enjoy everyone else's. Ha ha.
I made a 5' x 2' patchwork wall hanging called ' Naseby Lane' with bits and pieces. Its been on my cupboard door for years.
Always used to take a bit of sewing on cycle camping holidays. I embroidered the title in my tent in the Austrian Tyrol where it rained non stop for 3 days. Apparently it always does !
Its 8 x 9" squares, starting at a Thornby
cottage, and going up to the 1645 battlefield with Naseby Church on the right. Hot air balloons float over corn fields with hedges and brown ploughed bits to enhance.
I only cycled up there once, the hanging came out of it.
Any type of landscape could be used dramatically in this way. Anyone liking Monet could do one, it doesnt have to be bright colours, flowers or detail.
I never liked tapestries in stately homes, think my patchwork is much better. The colours are still perfect.
Never throw anything away.!

I have tried patchwork, Diane, but never did anything with the patches! As for knitting I gave stacks of knitting needles away and then discovered I didn't have a pair left. I should have kept the size 8 as I need those when I knit my Owl teacosy. It gets to look less and less like an owl with each clone as I leave bits out!

Used to knit Santas , Seaburngirl, and I have a pattern book somewhere with instructions how to knit the Royal Family!!

I'm not much of a knitter All I do is sometimes make Teddies for Tragedies. They have to be knitted to the same pattern so they are all the same apart from the colours, and they are included with medical supplies sent to childrens' hospitals or clinics abroad and each child is then given a teddy to take home. The staff have found that the children tend to get better more quickly with their own teddy! I have half a dozen waiting in a box for me to embroider their faces - a job I put off.

I've never tried patchwork. I used to make most of the family's clothes but my fingers are getting a bit unresponsive these days and last time I got the machine out I'd forgotten how to thread it up!!!

I am pleased I put this blog in. Lots of interesting ideas came up.
Thats wonderful how a comfort toy increases the length of time recovery takes place.
Happiness, Happiness as Ken Dodd would have said.

I give my left over wool to a 95 year old who knits squares for blankets and a charity send them oversees.
