This is the tree which sits at the top of my Garden it is very old and very big ( A bit like Hubby ) It had an ivy growing up it so a couple of years ago i took a saw to it as you will see

I bet it can breathe a sigh of relief now Donnah, it can't be too good all that choking, binding growth. Now it won't have to compete for water either....:o)

Yes, Ivy will choke a tree to death eventually, you only have to look around the woods and forests to see the damage that can be done to trees by ivy left unchecked.

That's a big tree. I'm glad you took the ivy off. I don't know if it harms the tree but I think it will look nicer without it.
