I think G O Y should have a best looking chicken competion as they have plenty of Doggies and cats on it. WHAT is wrong with pet chickens I think my little hen Ethel is really lovely. What do you think ? Coments welcome. Donnah

She is a very freindly little chicken and she likes getting in the greenhouse with me on a cold day aster

She's lovely! Definately should have competitions on here, maybe that's one we can add to the suggestion box? She's definately in with a chance.

Hi Donnah,
Ethel is rather gorgeous with lovely coloured plumage.I think she would easily receive accolades in the most handsome chicken competition!

Well, if I were giving Ethel a critique, in the way of a dog show judge, I would say ~
Excellent outline, attractive colouring, good length of neck, correct movement. This one could produce many champions. :o)

I think Ethel is lovely Donnah. I would have some chickens too except our by-laws prohibit us keeping fowl even if they are pets. :o(

Ethel looks brill, and so freindly, Hi Ethel welcome to GOY.

I would love to have chickens but I'm told they are very messy and a lot of work?

Nothing wrong with chickens! Who said there was. This is a welcome break from more usually seen animals in our gardens. Ethel looks just grand!

I don't think they are great respecters of flowerbeds though, are they?! They would need their own quarters, as it were. Me, I prefer their thigh quarters, tasty dark meat hee hee.
Oops, I'll get sent to the corner if I'm not careful...
Own-kept chickens seem to be enjoying quite a revival it seems. I'm all in favour of this, and finding free-range eggs locally.
On a not-completely-unrelated note, did anyone else watch the Save Our Bacon prog yesterday? We caught the end (the curly tail) of it, and found it very good. Went straight out today and bought my shoulder of pork joint.
Watch this space.
Apologies to anyone who couldn't get BBC progs last night, but maybe it's available on iplayer or whatever (like I'd know how to do that!)
