Winter in my little corner of the world

I haven’t been into GoY much over recent weeks … computer crashed & then had some minor health probs. I thought it was time I put up a short blog, just so I won’t be totally forgotten. It’s winter here in New Zealand but fortunately in my part of lower central North Island, the winter has been kind to us thus far. Most days we have seen lovely blue skies overhead & some sunshine, though not much warmth in it. Today it’s been raining & windy & a bit on the chilly side, but not bad at all. In four days I will be heading off to America to enjoy some sunshine & heat, as we visit with my older son & his family in Michigan, & avoid the coldest part of our NZ winter. Our first week will be spent in Denver, where I am hoping to spot some things of floral/garden/scenic interest to take photos off. Then we fly into Michigan for the next four weeks & I am really hoping to get up to see the lakes & lighthouses …. though my OH would prefer to visit Chicago instead. On our way back to NZ, we have a 2 day stopover in San Fransisco, & I am sure there will be lots of pretty floral & garden things to take pics of. As my garden is looking very bleak at the moment, I don’t have any photos to attach to this blog, but will do a blog when we return from our holiday in August. I was amazed to see two small lavender bushes still in flower, when I looked at the garden this morning.
