It’s 11.30pm & I am waiting for our almost 10 week old puppy to go to sleep so that we can go to sleep! He is finally slowing down after one final trip outdoors for a wee. Nothing decent to watch on TV, so thought I would check the shrubs for sale section on TradeMe …. NZ equivalent to EBay. I want to put in a couple of camellias, as they do very well in my area, & I think they are lovely. Wow …. So many different varieties to choose from! Now I have to decide which two I like best …. Not so easy when they are all so gorgeous.

I do too Lincs, I have two and one is much taller and more upright than the other so size could be a consideration when choosing......its lovely choices to have....but hard!
Have you got something for the pup to snuggle up to, we allways used a stone hotwaterbottle, wrapped in an old sweater,a ticking clock is supposed to help too

What a fantastic collection of camellias. I wonder, if you have them outside in the winter or do you take them into the winter garden?

Hello everyone. Thanks for looking at my blog. Grandmage .....I love the pale pink ones also. Lincslass ......my favourites are the frilly ones. So I am obviously inclining towards one being pale pink & frilly. I think the one which is showing in the 14th photo scrolling upwards from the bottom .... More of a medium pink really, but very lovely. Pamg .....he has a soft puppy toy with a beating heart which he always snuggles up to. He's really good at night as he has been sleeping for 6.5-7 hours in a stretch. He has excellent bladder control, & let's us know when he needs to go outside, so we are really lucky & able to get a good night's sleep. But in order for him to be able to go through the night like that, we stay up until around 11pm. Last night he decided at 11 that it was romp bout the lounge time & settled much later than usual .....but woke up at the usual time lol. Katarina ..... All these beautiful camellias are grown by a husband & wife team in a place called Levin, which happily is less than an hour's drive from our home. I think they probably supply some of them to garden centres too. Jent ..... That's a good idea. I will have to look into that. I had several lovely camellias in my previous garden, but there is just one in this garden, a red one. Diane .... Thank you for your concern. For his age, he really he really is very good & we usually don't go to bed until around 10.45 ....... Midnight when I'm working. Ok .....I now need to choose my second one .... Probably not the ones which look a water lily, as others I prefer.

Have decided I also really like the veined camellia in the 15th photo scrolling upwards from the bottom, & the one in the 16th pic scrolling up. Looks as if I might have to put in 3 instead of two. I do have enough space, but now need to figure out where they will go. Katarina .....in this region of NZ our winters are not too cold. We don't get snow & the camellias seem to survive the winters very well. Rhododendrons do very well too, though I lost a small one I put in early this year, as was frost-tender & I forgot to give it protection when we went to America in July, which is our winter.
